Elective Courses The law school makes all reasonable efforts to offer the following electives on a periodic basis but cannot guarantee that each course or seminar will be available to all students who wish to take it during their law school careers. More precise information on the courses and seminars that will be offered in a given semester, including those not listed here, is available from the registrar during the preregistration and general registration periods.
	LAW - 805 Law of Information Privacy 2 hrs.) This weekly two-hour seminar will critically examine cutting-edge information privacy law issues. Topics to be addressed include digital surveillance, the privacy implications of social networking technologies, consumer privacy, cloud computing, online behavioral advertising, and the role of anonymity in a networked world. We will compare and contrast existing legal frameworks for privacy protection in the U.S. and abroad, and we will discuss emerging privacy paradigms. We also will examine the nexus between privacy and information security through discussions of encryption, authentication, data breaches, and cybersecurity.
