LAW - 679 International Investment Law (2-3 hrs.)
Focuses on the results, in terms of state responsibility, of an illegality committed against an alien, particularly with respect to the taking of property and property rights. The course considers ways in which an illegality can be redressed and actions that may be taken to seek redress of such an illegality. It concentrates on the means for the settlement of disputes and the protection of foreign investment, particularly from the perspective of operations of the World Bank Group (the World Bank, International Finance Corporation, Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency [MIGA], and International Center for the Settlement of Investment Disputes [ICSID]).
