LAW - 887 Civil Rights of People with Mental Disabilities

People with mental disabilities are disproportionately likely to lack access to health care, be marginalized in school and funneled into the School-to-Prison Pipeline, be unemployed, be poor and homeless, and be injured by police and incarcerated. This course will explore the civil and human rights of people with mental disabilities, and students will gain an understanding of litigating civil rights class and individual actions and advocating for policy change on behalf of this population.
